They are famous not only for their music, but as well for the grandiose manner in which they create their songs, film their videos or plan their massive record-breaking tours. Thirty Seconds To Mars has always had their way of shocking the world one way or another and this week they’ve done it again, big time. What’s so special and unspeakable about it? Well…stay tuned.

The band will release “Up In The Air“, the first single off their upcoming album, exactly where the song’s title suggests: up in the air, to be more precise, into space. Yes, you’ve got that right, as Thirty Seconds To Mars will place their brand-new single aboard a SpaceX rocket that will blast off from Cape Canaveral, Florida and dock with the International Space Station. Thanks to this rocket that is also carrying a Dragon cargo capsule loaded with more than 1,200 pounds of scientific experiments and equipment, aliens will be the first to listen “Up In The Air”.

Thus, the song will hit the stratosphere before hitting the radios on our beloved Earth, and fans and nosy people will be able to watch it at NASA’s official site, but they won’t be able to hear it until Monday, March 18, when the band will pay a visit to NASA’s mission control complex in Houston for a live Q&A session with one of the astronauts aboard the International Space Station.
The single will hit digital retailers on March 19.
