When We Are Wild

When We Are Wild is the band formed by Hille Stellingwerf, singer/guitarist/songwriter with a very special voice from Witmarsum, a small village in the north of The Netherlands. The band makes intense and beautiful pop songs with a hypnotic modern folk music influence, think of bands like Bon Iver and Ben Howard.

At the beginning of 2012 Hille was working as a garbage collector and toilet cleaner to be able to pay for his studio recordings. Documentary makers from ‘Fryslân Dok’ followed Hille while he struggled to work his way into the Dutch music scene.

In April the band with only three short demo’s managed to claim a spot in the selection for ‘De Grote Prijs van Nederland’, the biggest band contest in the country.
Powering their way to the semi-finals the band gave a stellar performance and were one of the six bands selected for the finals in the legendary venue ‘De Melkweg’ in Amsterdam on December the 8th.

With the powerful first single ‘’Scuse Me’, which is based on a long lost first love that someone tries to rekindle too late, the band is ready for the next big step.
Meanwhile the band is working with i.a. Ico Balt from the rising producing team ‘Snoet & Smoel’ and songwriter Léon Paul Palmen on their first EP.
