This is a very simple song. I have tabbed out the main guitar parts, but not the solo.
The solo is kind of the same melody as the octaves, and is played with a slide. I'm in the process of figuring the solo out now, and when I finish I'll edit this tab to include it. The "bass" part can be played on a 7-string guitar like this:

e|------------------------------|
B|------------------------------|
G|------------------------------|
D|------------------------------|
A|------------------------------|
E|------------------------------|
B|----5---5--8--5--3--1--0------|

It of course starts out with just the bass. then...

The two power chords are obviously strummed more than once each, just figure it out.
This also might sound good if you tune the low E down to D, try it out.

This little part could also be played with just the A and E string, figure out which way you like best.
e|--------------------|
B|--------------------|
G|--------------------|
D|------5----7--------|
A|------5----7--------|
E|------3----5--------|

This is a pretty sweet sounding riff, very simple to play. Just octaves (i think that's what they're called).

sometimes he changes it a little like this
e|-----------------------------------|-------------------------------------------|
B|-----------------------------------|-------------------------------------------|
G|----9---9---9/12---9---7---5---4---|-----9---9---9/12---9---7---5/7---5---4----|
D|-----------------------------------|-------------------------------------------|
A|----7---7---7/10---7---5---3---2---|-----7---7---7/10---7---5---3/5---3---2----|
E|-----------------------------------|-------------------------------------------|

then it goes back to this, and then back to just the bass.
e|--------------------|
B|--------------------|
G|--------------------|
D|------5----7--------|
A|------5----7--------|
E|------3----5--------|

Elephant is a sweet album. I'm working on a couple other songs off it.

This song was of course written by the White Stripes, they and/or their record company own all rights.
This tab is not to be sold. It was tabbed and submitted to www.guitartabs.cc and www.thetabworld.com.

Enjoy!

its a gd tab but the intro isnt played on E string, its on A and uses an octave pedal to lower the notes. the pre chorus is perfect but the chorus is a bar A/E chord at E-7-7-10-7-5-3-2 AND DEN GOES E-7-7-10-7-5-3-5-3-2

There is definetly no bass player on this song fools. I have seen the band live - there is no bass player, just simple Jack and Meg. So face it - the people saying this are right!

If you dont have a bass try it an octave higher on an electric guitar A-0-0-3-0
E---------3-1-0

Comment about the bass or no bass: READ THIS>>>>> ITS A GUITAR, TUNED FROM A LOW E TO A B...THERE ARE ONLY 2 MEMBERS IN THE BAND AND IF YOU CHECK OUT THE VIDEO IT SHOWS HIM PLAYING THA PART ON HIS GUITAR!! SO ITS A GUITAR NOT A BASS, TO CLEAR THAT UP

well good tab. i think the intro is right. but i'd play it like this: first:A-string: 0-0-3-0
then: E-string: 3-1-0
it's easier.
bye folks

Tab feels good, but I think it's off a little.
To the guy who said there's only two in the band, this is true.
But how do you explain the piano on 'I wanna be the boy to warm your mothers heart' on elephant.
I guess they just bring in extras to record, like Johnson and Harper.
There's definately a bass here, the intro isn't on G it starts on open E on the guitar and is easily played on a bass, go an octave higher on ur guitar or drop your E string waaayyy down. good stuff. I dare someone to Comment!!! thx.
