Skaldowie

Polish rock group formed in Summer 1965 in Cracow. Many of their compositions included references to folk music from the region the Polish Podhale region in the Tatra Mountains. References to classical music can also be found in their compositions.

The band was touring the USA when martial law was declared in Poland. With some of the members staying overseas and two others (Jacek Zieli?ski, Konrad Raty?ski) returning to Poland, the band was dissolved. It did not exist in the years 1982-87.

In spring 1987 Jacei Zieli?ski re-activated the band.

Skaldowie were rewarded the Polish medal for Merit to Culture, Gloria Artis.
