?Guerilla Radio? is track 2 of The Battle
of Los Angeles and the first single release
of the album. Simplicity is the driving force
 here so much so that keeping track of the
correct number of repetitions is the real
concern. The riff opens with guitar 1 doing
eight repetitions on the main riff along with
guitar 2?s harmonized 5ths through a Fender-style
 tremolo effect set for sixteenth notes at 104 bpm.
 After This initial barrage, guitar 2 drops the
 harmony and tremolo in favour of the unison
single-note riff and the  band gets into high gear,
 The surprise comes when the eighth note repetition
 gets ousted by a transition style, moving into the
verse. (I always found it difficult to remember that
change at the right moment, given the simple repetition
of fifteen preceding measures!) The tonal center is
the Morello favorite, F#, and the key is minor. In fact,
 the notes E-F#-A-B spell out four or five tones of F#
minor pentatonic (only C# is omitted). The verse is
all wah?ed-out tone and rythm. Pull your gain back a
bit here and crank on your wah pedal. If you?re using
a Digitech XP100 whammy pedal, set it to patch 02 for
a wide-sweeping, trbly-topped result. If you?re not
used to running a wah pedal like this, you may find
your foot runs out of endurance prematurely. It?s
not easy to keep up a smooth rocking motion like
this constantly at this tempo for this long. Again,
 witness the ?hidden? Morello technique. The chorus
is made up of the intro riff times seven, followed
by the riff B transition measure.
