Marcel Dednam
Marcel finished his UNISA Gr 8 Practical in classical music and in 2014, he completed his B Tech in Jazz and Popular music. In 2016, he competed in the UNISA National Piano Competition and came third. In 2019 he furthered his studies and completed his Master’s degree in Jazz Performance. Marcel has played in “The Sound of Music”, “Legally Blond”, “Singing in the Rain” and “Godspell” and accompanied various, choirs, musical theatre and drama students. He has performed with other musicians including Anna Davel, Justin Holcroft, Luke van der Merwe, Werner Spies, Peter Auret, Nell, Leon Gropp, Daniella Hart and many more.
He is currently lecturing jazz at Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), teaching music at Cornwall Hill College, and Pro Arte, while also giving private jazz/classical piano lessons.
Marcel is actively composing and playing jazz performances around Pretoria and Johannesburg. In 2017 Marcel released his first jazz album titled “Bluebird”.
