Edwin Lebron

Edwin Martinez-Lebron was born and raised in Trenton, NJ. He is the only child to Carmen Lebron. His love for music started in church when he was 4 years old. He had the advantage of learning how to play many instruments because his mom, uncle and aunts are all singers and musicians. Edwin plays the Piano, Bass, Congas, Timbales, Bongos, Guitar, Drums, Cowbells and the Cuatro, which is the original traditional instrument in Puerto Rico. He attended Trenton Central High School were he became a member of the TCHS Gospel Choir, and member of the TCHS Marching Band. He also attended one of the best music schools in the East Coast, Westminster Conservatory of Music.

In 1999, Edwin Auditioned for 2 movies: The Bone Collector & The Camp
2000-2001: Was the opening act for: India and Huey Dunbar, Gilberto Santa Rosa & Tito Nieves. He also joined the salsa group LNG-(La Nueva Generacion) – (The New Generation)
In 2002, Edwin moved to New York and started working with one of salsas well-respected musician: Angel Mambo Lebron. Under Mambos management, Edwin began working with world known salseros: Brenda K Starr, Mickey Perfecto, Miosotis and Hector Bonet. He was one of the background vocalists.
He also co-wrote, arranged & co-produced the song: Por Temor which hit radio stations around the USA.
He performed with Miosotis at the Copacabana along with well-known Salsa and Merengue artists: Elvis Crespo, Fernando Villalona, Jose Alberto El Canario, Hector Tricoche and many more. He accompanies Miosotis on the live CD release of En Vivo en el Copacabana- 60 Años de Historia released by Sony Records.
In 2003, He arranged and recorded the song “That’s the way Love Goes” in Salsa for Salsa Sensation Janeè which hit radio stations in the US and Puerto Rico. He has also recorded with Charlie Garcia, Luisito Quintero, Pablo Santaella, Raul Agraz, Edwin Nepy Maldonado, Rene Leiva, and Angel Mambo Lebron just to name a few.
He also performed at the world famous Carnegie Hall alongside Kevin Ceballo and Huey Dunbar as a background vocalist for well-known salsa/pop singer: Brenda K. Starr.
He has recorded background vocals for one of Christian salsas well-respected pioneer and great friend Puchi Colon on the album Salsa Praise.
In 2004, he performed in Philadelphia for El Congreso de la Salsa- (The Salsa Congress) with new salsa sensation JCS- (Juventud con Swing). They were the opening act for Jose Alberto El Canario.
In 2005, he was the winner of the Images/Imagenes Road to Stardom competition on NJN were he received votes from Australia, Africa, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Europe and many more countries. He also recorded the piano track on the salsa hit "Vamos Amarnos" recorded by Richie Rivera and Nina Sky available on the cd La Conexion.
He was blessed to have the privilege of recording again with his great friend and winner of the 2005 Christian album of the year, Puchi Colon on the album entitled Fortaleceme. He recorded the background vocals as well as a rap/reggaeton on No Inventes.
In 2006, he received the Goya Alumni Award which is given to Alumni's of the Hispanic Youth Showcase that are still involved in the music business. He has returned to the stage and has performed in many festivals and parades. On 7/3/06 Edwin was the opening act for the Greatest Salsa Band Ever... El Gran Combo De Puerto Rico in Philadelphia and was also the opening act for Salsa sensation Einllo and Jose alberto el Canario on 7/8/06 in Penns Landing Philadelphia.
