My American Army Boy

He had large eyes, very clear
Somewhat like lightning in the sky
during a thunderstorm
He was covered in tattoos
that I never really understood
His neck said "Not seen, not caught"
Above his heart was "nobody"
And on his right arm, one word: "reason"
I don't know his name, I don't know anything about him
Yet he loved me all night long,
my American army boy!
And leaving me to my fate,
he was gone by the morning,
full of light!
He was thin, he was handsome,
he smelled like the hot sand
my American army boy!
It was the sun on his forehead
that made his hair shine blonde
in the light
Happiness lost, happiness fled
I often think of that night and
his craving to bite at my skin
Sometimes I cry and I think
when I felt such emotion,
I would've screamed in happiness
But I didn't dare tell him my feelings
I was afraid to see him smile!
I don't know his name, I don't know anything about him
Yet he loved me all night long,
my American army boy!
And leaving me to my fate,
he was gone by the morning,
full of light!
He was thin, he was handsome,
he smelled like the hot sand
my American army boy!
It was the sun on his forehead
that made his hair shine blonde
in the light
They were found in the desert,
his beautiful eyes were open
In the sky above, clouds passed by
He showed his tattoos, smiling
revealing his neck and saying "Not seen, not caught"
Showing his heart: "here, nobody"
He doesn't know it....but I forgive him
Still, I dreamed that fate
would give me back a beautiful morning
with my American army boy,
That we'd be alone together
in some wonderful country
that's full of light!
He was thin, he was handsome,
he smelled like the hot sand
my American army boy!
It was the sun on his forehead
that made his hair shine blonde
in the light

Mon légionnaire

MON LÉGIONNAIRE
Paroles: R. Asso, musique: M. Monnot, 1936

Il avait de grands yeux très clairs

Où parfois passaient des éclairs

Comme au ciel passent des orages.

Il était plein de tatouages

Que j'ai jamais très bien compris,

Son cou portait: "pas vu, pas pris"

Sur son coeur on lisait: "personne"

Sur son bras droit un mot: "raisonne".

Je sais pas son nom, je ne sais rien de lui

Il m'a aimée toute la nuit

Mon légionnaire!

Et me laissant à mon destin

Il est parti dans le matin

Plein de lumière!

Il était mince il était beau,

Il sentait bon le sable chaud

Mon légionnaire!

Y'avait du soleil sur son front

Qui mettait dans ses cheveux blonds

De la lumière!

Bonheur perdu, bonheur enfui,
