Odessa nights

Odessa nights out on the lawn
we sat out til the rest had gone
and we wished for a breeze
and one came on
and the doors were slamming upstairs in time to the song

the cat's in the shade
we're happy again
as long as he keeps back from the road
he's low in the tall grass
tucked down in
waiting out a mouse and a pre-hurricane wind
