Het lied wordt gezongen door Steve Parkes. Her en der zingt hij het net iets anders als de tekst hieronder.

Het lied gaat over de kuisheidsgordel. Dat is een meestal metalen 'kledingstuk' dat direkt op de huid wordt gedragen. Het voorkomt dat de vrouw geslachtsgemeenschap kan hebben. Ook kan zij niet masturberen. Er waren ook kuisheidsgordels voor mannen. De gordel werd met een slot gesloten, zodat het, zonder sleutel, niet te verwijderen was.

Hardnekkige geruchten vertellen dat de gordels uit de Middeleeuwen stammen, maar dat is niet zo. De oudste kuisheidsgordels dateren van vele eeuwen later.

In Wikipedia las ik het volgende: "De oudst bekende afbeelding van een kuisheidsgordel stamt uit 1405, in Bellifortis van Konrad Keyser von Eichstatt, een boek over de militaire techniek van die tijd. Naar het schijnt besloot Graaf Sliepenbeek von Eindhoven, ook bekend als eigenaar van het beeld 'de Gouden Kat', enkele decennia later als een van de eersten dat dochters aan het hof zo een gordel dienden te dragen. Tijdens het huwelijk kwamen de sleutels dan tevoorschijn, o.a. voor het feestelijk openen van deze gordel."
