[chorus:] G-D-Em-A G Come on try a little D Nothing is forever Em A There's got to be something better than in the middle G Me and Cinderella D Put it all together Em A We can drive it home ... with one headlight. [verse] She said its cold it feels like independence day And I can't break away from this parade But theres got to be an opening Somewhere here in front of me Through this maze of ugliness and greed I seen the sign up ahead at the county line bridge Saying all is good and nothing less its dead Runnin' till she's out of breath She ran until there's nothing left She hit the end its just her window ledge G F#m Hey hey hey... [chorus] This place is old feels just like a beat up truck I turn the engine but the engine doesn't turn With smells of cheap ol' wine and cigarettes This place is always such a mess Sometimes I think I'd like to watch it burn So alone I feel just like somebody else Man I ain't changed but I know I ain't the same But somewhere here in between These city walls and dyin' dreams I think her death it must be killing me G F#m Hey hey hey... I have a poor tape version of this song, so the TAB won't be accurate in some spots. In addition, the lyrics are pure guesses in a few spots. It's a good song to do some simple original lead work, especially with bottleneck, so just use this as a starting point. Altho' I'm a guitar player, what really makes the song for me is the organ part - a copy of some old Garth Hudson work with the Band. =One Headlight The Wallflowers Jacob Dylan===Key:Bm===Tempo:108 === G |G |D/f# |D/f# [intro] F#/bb |F#/bb |Bm |Bm [] G |G |D/f# |D/f# [] F#/bb |F#/bb |[see tab below] [] Bm G e:-----------------|------| B:---3/5--3--------|------| G:-----------4--2--|--0---| D:-----------------|------| A:-----------------|------| E:-----------------|------| 1 2 3 4 1 G |G |D |D So long ago, I don't remember when that's | F# |F# |Bm |Bm when they say I lost my only friend G |G |D |D Well, since she died easy of a broken heart disease, I F# |F# |Bm |Bm listen thru the cemetery trees | G |G |D |D [rhythm only] F# |F# |Bm |Bm [] I seen the G |G |D |D sun coming up at the funeral at dawn, F# |F# |Bm |Bm | long shadows on the [????] [chamber walls] G |G |D |D It always seemed such a waste, she always had a pretty face, I F# |F# |Bm |Bm wondered why she hung around this place.....
