Freshmen - The Verve Pipe

:verse1:
E A
when I was young I knew everything
    C#m B A
and she a punk who rarely ever took advice
        E A
now I'm guilt stricken sobbing with my head on the floor
C#m B A
stop a baby's breath and a shoe full of rice (no)

:chorus:
C#m B A
          I can't be held responsible
C#m B A
'cause she was touching her face
C#m B A
          I won't be held responsible
C#m B A
she fell in love in the first place

:bridge:
E A
for the life of me, I cannot remember
C#m B A E
what made us think that we were wise and we didn't compro-mise
                   A
for the life of me, I cannot believe
     C#m B A
we'd ever die for these sins we were merely freshmen

:verse2:
my best friend took a week's vacation to forget her
his girl took a week's worth of valium and slept
and now he's guilt stricken sobbing with his head on the floor
thinks about her now and how he never really wept, he says...

(repeat chorus)
(repeat bridge)
()

:verse3:
we've tried to wash our hands of all of this
we never talk of our lacking relationships
and how we're guilt stricken sobbing with our heads on the floor
we fell through the ice, when we tried not to slip, we'd say it...

(repeat chorus)
(repeat bridge)
(repeat chorus and fade)

 ------------------------
There are some nice little hammer-off/on things going on
with the A chord especially (Asus2, Asus4) that you can tinker
with, but hopefully this will help get people started.

Hint: In this phrasing...

E A
when I was young I knew everything

I think it sounds real nice if you play a quick B chord
over the word "knew", so it's like:

E B A
when I was young I knew everything

You may or may not choose do to so but I thought it added a
little snap. I "smell" that B in there somewhere, especially
if you play the B without the high "e" string fingered, but open.
'course I'm doing this on an acoustic and trying to eek out a little
extra "magic".
