This album is brilliant!
The Darkness edge closer to being the new Queen. Title track, Dinner lady arms (my fave), Hazel eyes, and Bald - who else could write a brooding heavy metal song about being ferkin bald. Amazing leads, voice to die for. Anyone who doesn't like this album should be shot.

this album is just the definition of rock n' roll. it's perfect, the sound quality is gr8, the songs such as one way ticket,is it just me?, seemed like a good idea at the time, bald and in fact the whole of the album have brilliant lyrics packed with tons of awesome guitar riffs and solos and high pitched singin by Justin that made the darkness recognisable. this album is a cracker so if you have any taste and any sense you would buy it 10/10 of course permision to land is just as good.
LONG LIVE THE DARKNESS!!!!!

The Darkness: One Way Ticket to Hell and Back.
After hearing their first album Permission to Land, I was dubious about how good their next album would be. As soon as the title track kicked off I was bouncing around the loungeroom with my kids. What a ripper. The track "Knockers" has a very laid back feel to it but it still rocks out and the falsetto chorus is addictive.."and I love what you've done with your hair..." You can tell the boys are British when you read into the lyrics...who else would say "oh crumbs"?
Dinner Lady arms is a clever well written song that conjures up images of a BIG woman serving up bangers and mash in a school canteen! The song Hazel Eyes is very catchy and Bald is a heavy satire of male pattern baldness, which is funny becasue one of them is bald!
Seemed Like a Good Idea At the Time is a nice ballad, which has followed on from Love is Only a Feeling.
I give it 9/10 for the sheer listening pleasure and musical ability. Get into it!

The Darkness hail from Lowestoft. They are Justin Hawkins, Dan Hawkins, Ed Graham and Richie Edwards. This album not only excretes on the pages of the magazines that insulted the Darkness such as NME (No Mates Enquiries), it also shows that rock music has been saved... again!
There are ten tracks on this album. 'One Way Ticket' is a song of redemption and illustrates the the dangers of drug abuse. This track not only starts with a pan pipe intro, it has a sitar solo! and it rocks.
'Is It Just Me' is another superb rock track that features Justin's incredible range and a twin finger tapping guitar solo from the fraternal Hawkins duo.
This album is jam packed full of face melting guitar solos, solid punching rythm and the vocals? - out of this world.
Lets put it this way, NME HATE the Darkness, and they gave them a 7/10 album review.
Kerrang: 5/5
Total Guitar: 9/10
Classic Rock: 10/10 Not bad, eh?
This is by far the best Rock album that has been made in ages (with Permission to land, of course)!
Buy this album and enjoy!

Don't let yourself be put off by the title track and single for this album (which I know isn't as impressive as those from the Permission To Land, generally slagged off by everyone I've spoken to).
Indeed, the first few tracks on this album are distinctly weak, lacking some of the originality, freshness (swearwords), and good riffs from the last album. It all just seems like glam rock without the fun. NB-After listening to the album a couple of times they've started to grow on me a bit more.
However, by about track five (Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time), even if this album is a little less manic, shorter (hardly over 30 mins) and slower than the last one, there are some really good songs on it that you just can't help but enjoy, my favourite being "Hazel Eyes". It's corny, stupid and I love it.
However, this albrum raises a question: Were The Darkness not just a gimmicky band who've now started to get boring? One of the reasons PTL was so good was the sheer originality and freshness of it, two traits perhaps lacking in One Way Ticket.
Even if we don't have much more to look forward to from The Darkness, this album is well worth buying, if only for the few great songs like "Hazel Eyes" and "English Country Garden".
As a final point, much more effort has gone into the album cover, making it stand out from PTL at least aesthetically, if not for any other reasons.
