A few hours ago, I lost the right course

A few days ago, I got kicked out of a town
All I ever did, was joke and shoot around
The sheriff told me 'Son, you better choose:
Leave this town now or get your head stuck in a noose'

It's really hot and the sun keeps beating down
Far on the horizon I can see another town
I'm very thirsty and I do really think
That I'll die very soon, if I don't get a drink

Drying out and they're vultures overhead
They expect me to pass out, and drop dead
I won't give them the pleasure, the city isn't far
