Sonic Youth - Shaking Hell gitaar tab
Je score:
SHAKING HELL tab by chris lawrence (mustang@islandnet.com) Okay. I'm going to tab this in standard because I really can't be sure of the tuning used on the album. If you listen to the Venlo disc, you can hear Lee tune to a near-standard tuning directly before this song, and Kim just seems to play whatever guitar Thurston gives her when they trade (like F#F#GGAA in '86). So standard's as good as any tuning, I suppose. Guitar 1 (Kim): Intro E-------------------------------------- B-------------------------------------- G-------------------------------------- D-------------------------------------- A-------------------------------------- E--X-11-X-9-X-11-X-9-X-11-X-9-X-11-X-9- etc when that part ends, start striking the open strings with a drumstick or something equally as percussive and let it ring out. Kim is silent during the verse. you may wanna come back in playing swooping drones along with the bass @ "shake off your flesh". otherwise, she doesn't play anymore during the song. Guitar 2 (Lee): intro: ** = trem pick these chords furiously ** ** let these ring... ** ** ** E------------------------------------------------------------- B--13-----15-----18----18----18----18-------18---------------- G--12-----14-----17----17----17----17-------17----11-----17--- D--11-----13-----16----16----16----16-------16----10-----16--- A--10-----12-----15----15----15----15-------15-----9-----15--- E------------------------------------------------------------- then hang on that last chord (w/ the 18th fret on B) and just keep strumming it while the drums/bass meltdown... move the fingering around a bit for extra dissonance. then for the verse, start off strumming this chord: E------- B---0--- G--11--- D--10--- A------- optional 9th fret on A E------- then move up to: E-------- B----0--- G---15--- D---14--- A---13--- E-------- then move back to the first chord. then we she sings "shake off your flesh" and the bass starts droning the G string, move up to this: E-------------- B-------------- G--13-----14--- the first chord is only there for a moment D--12-----13--- A--11-----12--- hang on the second chord til "turn around" E-------------- when things calm down a bit, start arpeggiating that last chord. this is moving into the "shake, shake" part... then he stops for a moment and comes back in violently strumming this chord in bursts: E-------- B---18--- G---17--- D---16--- A---15--- E-------- then up to this one: E-------- B-------- G---20--- D---19--- A---18--- E-------- then back to the previous one and END.
