De 'Battle for Hill 3234' is de strijd tussen Russische troepen en Afghaanse rebellen in 1988. Bij de Afghaanse rebellen moet je denken aan Jihad strijders. Het gevecht concentreerde zich rondom een naamloze heuvel. Vandaar het nummer. Daar waren 39 Russische soldaten die aangevallen werden door 200 tot 250 rebellen. De soldaten waren daar gelegerd om een konvooi te beschermen die langs de heuvel trok. De Russen hielden stand en de rebellen gaven het op.
