I've decided that I've taken so much from OLGA, that it's time I made the attempt to put something back. This is one of the first songs I can ever recall listening to in my life. My parents had it on some 70's compilation LP called "Dynamite" that I used to listen when I was probably about 4 or 5 (that was back in `84 or `85 - I'm 18 now). It was my favorite then, and is still one of my favorites now. It's not a very hard song to play, and if you're just starting out on guitar it shouldn't be too hard - but then if you know this tune, you've probably been playing for a while. For this part (and the solo), keep swelling the volume up and down. Pick the string after you turn it down, and right before you turn it up again. Remember to shake the hell out of each note as you hold it. In case of a natural harmonic, use a behind the nut bend to achieve the desired effect. The more you practice it, the better it will sound. :) |GTR-1--------------------------------------------------------------------| |-------------------------------------------------------------------------| |-------------------------------------------------------------------------| |-------------------------------------------------------------------------| |--0-0-2---2-2-2---2-2-2---2-2-2------------------------------------------| |----------------------------------2-2-2---2-2-2---2-2-2---2-2-2----------| |PM. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . | | | |GTR-2-----------------------------natural-harmonic-----------------------| |---------------------------------*7*-------------------------------------| |-------------------------------------------------------------------------| |-------------------------------------------------------------------------| |-------------------------------------------------------------------------| |-----/7------------------------------------------------------------------| GTR 1 - RIFF A |GTR-2--------------------------------------------------------------------| |-------------------------------------------------------------------------| |-------------------------------------------------------------------------| |--4>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>(4)-\-2>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>--------------| |-------------------------------------------------------------------------| |-------------------------------------------------------------------------| blackness blackness ...... It's not really how they play it, but it's good enough. Try experimenting with it (don't strum all the strings on each chord - I don't). Make up something for the second guitar, I really didn't feel like figuring out the funky bass line. goodbye baby ..... |--2-2---5-5---7-7-7-5---5-5-5-----2-2---5-5---7-7-7-5---5-5-5---2--strum-| |--2-2---5-5---7-7-7-5---5-5-5-----3-3---6-6---8-8-8-6---6-6-6---2---this-| |--4-4---7-7---9-9-9-7---7-7-7-----4-4---7-7---9-9-9-7---7-7-7---4---last-| |--2-2---5-5---7-7-7-5---5-5-5-----2-2---5-5---7-7-7-5---5-5-5---2--chord-| |--3-3---6-6---8-8-8-6---6-6-6-----4-4---7-7---9-9-9-7---7-7-7---3-slowly-| |--4-4---7-7---9-9-9-7---7-7-7-----2-2---5-5---7-7-7-5---5-5-5---4--------| D D D D D U D D U D U D D D D D U D D U D U U GTR 1 - RIFF B |GTR-2----------------------| |---------------------------| |---------------------------| |----------------------4----| |----------------------2----| |---------------------------| And now finally, at the very end right after "this flight tonight", the second guitar finishes off with ...tonight |GTR-2-----------------| |-------------*7*>>>>--| |----------------------| |----------------------| |-----4----------------| |-----2----------------| And I use this to finish off guitar 1 since it's hard to perform a fade out, it follows RIFF A at the end. |GTR-1-------2>>>>>>---| |------------2>>>>>>---| |------------3>>>>>>---| |--------4---4>>>>>>---| |-----4------4>>>>>>---| |--2-------------------| PM. . . And of course, what tab would be complete without a legend. LEGEND: PM (Palm Mute): Place the side of you're pick hand across the bridge to muffle the strings. A palm muted string is indicated with a "." under it. *#* Natural Harmonic: Touch the string over the fret marker indicating the fret you're on, without pressing the string down, and pick the string. It works best if you take you're finger off as soon as you've picked it. The easiest natural harmonics to find are on frets 7 and 12 of any string, however, they exist all over each string. D & U: Indicates which way you're pick hand is strumming, (down or up). >>>>: I used these things to indicate that you're going to hold a note or a while. In the solo, each ">" indicates 1 beat, so you can count 'em if you're lost. (They may not all be exactly right) (#): A note in brackets indicates that you should already be holding that note, and shouldn't pick it again. /: Slide up. \: Slide down. Behind the nut bend: You can press on the string as it goes from the nut (that thing between the head of your guitar and the first fret) to the tuning peg to simulate a bend - this works real well with open strings and natural harmonics. Well, I think that's about it, thank you for your patience and I hope you found this tab useful. Please feel free to add\revise any parts not listed or incorrect. I could have been wrong, it has happened before :)
