One day the bey learnt of the love 
Between Ali and his daughter 
He was very angry with Ali 
And wanted to exile him from the village 
But, Zohre said ‘if you exile Ali, I will kill myself’
The bey was very fond of his daughter 
But did not believe her love for Ali was strong 
And so, he decided to set an ordeal for Ali 
That would separate the lovers
And from which Ali might not survive
He called Ali to him and said 
‘I want to be sure how much you love my daughter 
Therefore, I have a test for you 
If you accept that, 
I will give you permission to marry Zohre’
