probably the best metal album in history. It has everything a cool metal album needs: long instrumentals like the Call of Ktulu, agression in songs like fight fire with fire, etc.

This is a very solid metal album. I really like the songs its very strong in the guitar work, fade to black is a very good one. The only problem with this is that its kind of short and tends to get a little old if you base urself on it all the time. But the playing overall is amazing.

To me, this is one of the best albums ever made. And to me, al the songs should b rated very high starting with the opening song:
Fight Fire With Fire- It has an acoustic opening and then goes straight into a true metal riff, and after a while it gets kind of boring. But still deseves a decent rate: 4/5
Ride The Lightning- As the albums title song, it lives up to what it's supposed to be, the main riff really seems like Riding Lightning!!!: 4.5/5
For Whom The Bell Tolls- Man do I love this song! The opening bass riff is just superb. And the drum and guitar lines just blend together to make a badass doomy song! Perfect. :5/5
Fade To Black- One of the best metal ballads of all time. Every riff in theis song blends together absolutly perfectly. And every single solo fits!!! :5.5/5
Trapped Under Ice- Awesome, I love the lyrics to it, it just has what it needs to make a good song:4/5
Escape- Has a doomy, yet classic rock feel to it. And it never gets old. It's just a big ol' rowdy song.
Creeping Death- This song is a definate shining moment for Kirk Hammet and James Hetfeild (Metallica guitarest's) because the guitar solos really have to take over this one. It's a number I love to headbang to!: 5/5
Call of Ktulu- Just an awesome instrumental masterpeice from all of the instuments and really ends the album off right!: 4.9/5
..... Just a really kick ass album all together. Dosent get better than this one!!!

alright this is the greatest metallica album ever!!! if you don't have it, then get your lazy ass off this computer and go get it!!! this album is easily my favorite because all my favorite song CREEPING DEATH is on here. also the guitar solos are awesome. there aren't any bass solos but you can here cliff as loud as ever. in order from best to worst the song list is: creeping death, fade to black, the call of ktulu, ride the lightning, for whom the bell tolls, trapped under ice, fight fire with fire, and the escape. this is not to say that escape is a bad song, it is one of my favorites, its just not as good as everything else on the album. Holy shit i wish i could rate this album a 6/5
