Maddy Prior - Hind Horn songtekst
Young Hind Horn to the King's is gone Hey lililu and ho ho lan He fell in love with the King's daughter Jean With a hey down, hey diddle downy She gave him a gay gold ring Hey lililu and ho ho lan With three bright diamonds glittering With a hey down, hey diddle downy When this ring grows pale and blue Hey lililu and ho ho lan Then my love is lost to you With a hey down, hey diddle downy He hoisted his sails and went to sea Hey lililu and ho ho lan Spent seven years in a far country With a hey down, hey diddle downy One day he's looked his ring upon Hey lililu and ho ho lan It grew pale and it grew wan With a hey down, hey diddle downy Young Hind Horn is come to land Hey lililu and ho ho lan There he met an old beggar man With a hey down, hey diddle downy What news, what news come tell to me Hey lililu and ho ho lan No news but our queen's wedding day With a hey down, hey diddle downy Will you give me your old brown cap? Hey lililu and ho ho lan And I'll give you my gold laced hat With a hey down, hey diddle downy Will you give me your begging weeds Hey lililu and ho ho lan And I'll give you my good grey steed With a hey down, hey diddle downy The old beggar man goes dressed so fine Hey lililu and ho ho lan And young Hind Horn like an old beggar man With a hey down, hey diddle downy When he came to the king's gate Hey lililu and ho ho lan He asked for drink and he asked for meat With a hey down, hey diddle downy He asked for the sake of St. Peter and Paul Hey lililu and ho ho lan He asked for the sake of young Hind Horn With a hey down, hey diddle downy The bride came tripping down the stair Hey lililu and ho ho lan With combs of red gold shining in her hair With a hey down, hey diddle downy With a glass of red wine in her hand Hey lililu and ho ho lan To give to the poor old beggar man With a hey down, hey diddle downy And he has drunk up all the wine Hey lililu and ho ho lan And into the cup he's dropped the ring With a hey down, hey diddle downy Came ye this by sea or land? Hey lililu and ho ho lan Or got ye't off a dead man's hand? With a hey down, hey diddle downy I got it not by sea or land? Hey lililu and ho ho lan But I got it off your very own hand With a hey down, hey diddle downy The bridegroom he comes down the stair Hey lililu and ho ho lan But neither bride nor beggar was there With a hey down, hey diddle downy The bridegroom had her first to wed Hey lililu and ho ho lan But young Hind Horn had her first to bed With a hey down, hey diddle downy
