Galswintha (540–568) was de dochter van Athanagild, koning van Spanje (toendertijd bestond Spanje uit het huidige Spanje en Porugal!) en Goiswintha. Ze had een zus die Brunhilda heette. Galswintha trouwde in 567 met Chilperic I, koning van Neustria (zie Wiki). Een jaar later werd ze vermoord door Fredegund, de minnares van haar man. Vanaf dat moment was er vijandschap tussen beide landen dat resulteerde in een langdurige oorlog.
