your middle finger is fretting the 6(trust me, after playing a lot of Steve vai
stuff, I know this is the best way to finger it, it just takes practice if
you've never done it before)

Hold 17 bent to sound like you are playing the 18th fret unbent and then slightly bring the bent string back into position before bending it up higher
to sound like you are playing the 19 fret without bending it. do all of this by
picking the string only once.
