Once "One Time" charted within the top 30 in over ten countries, everybody knew that Bieber's genie could not be put back in the bottle. And indeed, he is the first artist to have seven songs from a debut album chart on the Billboard Hot 100. After the release of "My World" last November, the young singer had topped 100 million YouTube views, becoming a YouTube phenomenon and the king of streaming media. On Twitter, his name is tweet-checked 84,846 times a day. On Last.fm, Bieber set a recent record of 1,854,917 song plays in twenty-four hours. Last year, he remained No.1 in Ad Age's "Top 10 Most Tweeted Brands" chart and Celebuzz has declared him one of the decade's Top Ten YouTube superstars.
This year, Justin Bieber released "My World 2.0" and received similar success and was certified platinum in less than two months of release in the United States. The sixteen-year-old boy from Stratford, Ontario gets 11,000 new Twitter fans a day and has record-breaking successes everywhere he turns, making all the other teenage superstars seem old-school. "Baby" has become an international hit song and the number of Bieberettes is continuing to grow.

However, it's not all sunshine for the young Bieber. His fame and success made him a target for internet pranksters. Hacked YouTube videos that were altered so as to redirect users to adult websites or trigger pop-up messages saying that Bieber had been killed in a car accident. A photograph of the superstar was changed to pornographic images and various rumors circulated, from rumors that Bieber had died or joined a cult.
Nevertheless, Bieber continues to enjoy his phenomenal success and to conquer the hearts of thousands of new young teenage girls with his image as a heart-throb and his manner of speech.
