How the mongoose, when startled,
eyes widen and goes pale

And the greens in the garden
are a hundred shades, none the same
How they turn phosphorescent just after the rain

How the fish jump out of the sea - look at me!
when it's still
How the franklin birds waddle
in some chaotic fire drill

How the Handsome Boy cardinal
serenades me til I rise
How the Haleakala clouds ever change our skies

How the birds recognize my voice - as a song!
So I sing to them, bring to them
breadcrumbs each dawn

How the magic of love grows each day in my heart
