John Mayer - Your Body Is A Wonderland gitaar tab
Date: Fri, 25 Jan 2002 19:06:21 -0600 (CST) From: "Jamie House" From: chad thomas fenoglio Subject: m/mayer_john/your_body_is_a_wonderland.tab "Your Body is a Wonderland" (live version) Song by: John Mayer Standard tuning with capo on 1st fret Tab is made WITHOUT regard to capo so a "1" on the A string is really played open. Also, I finger-pick the whole thing and the "xxx" means hitting the strings with you hand not muffled. If you can play this, I am assuming you know what a slide, hammer, palm mute, bend and staccato (quick note) are and look like. There are other tabs without a capo but I like mine. Thanks for da help with figuring out this song. But i think da way dat john mayer plays dis, he drops da E string down to D. If you watch his film clip he plays dis songs way down to da neck of da guitar. But as long as it sounds good its ok. Thanks agen.

In defense of tabbers like myself who don't include complex rhythms, there is no standard way of notating tabs (like in "real" music). Generally, if you know enough about music to be able to decipher someone's attempt at tabbing rhythm, you can probably figure it out yourself. Chances are, if it's simple to write, it's simple to hear, and if it's difficult to write out, it's easier (at least for me) to do it by ear than to try to read someone else's take.
And I'd probably disagree anyway.

sure there are easier tabs but this one is so damn right

All of these versions I've seen here are very hard. There is a much easier way to do it. One could kill themselves trying to play this song that low on the neck. The actual way John plays this song is completely different than all of these and much more simple. I'm kinda disappointed.

Just a little tip because my friend was learning this and said he was having trouble from the same tab (which is this 1, i like it very much). If your having trouble playing the first fret on the A string than you can receieve just about the same sound playing the top E string on the 6th fret. That makes it easier to reach the other strings

In my on going request to find a correct version of this song, this is not it. I got a video of him performing this song with his bassist and he doesn't play it anything like this tab, i mean, this tab sounds right but this is to low on the fret board, he plays it much higher up and i'm too lazy to tab it my self, but this solo seems damn close on this tab.

having watched him play this live, i think while the notes are the same, the way JM plays this is different.
e.g., he drops E to D, then plays during the verse and chorus:
E---------------------------------------
B---------------------------------------
G--10-x-10----10-x-10--10-x-10---10-x-10
D--10-x-10----10-x-10--10-x-10---10-x-10
A-8-------------------------------------
E----------10---------8--------10-------

Timing is a nice touch. Not many people who tab have a clue about time, and just say, "You're gonna have to listen for the rhythm." Morale of the story, if you're gonna write a tab, don't half-ass it.
