The one no one wants to hear

He could be standing right beside you

Whispering in your ear

He could be calling down from the mountain top

Or crying out in the wilderness

Well I need to know which way to go

What voice to listen to

The author of confusion or the author of the truth

Are you a wise man or a fool?

Are you a servant or do you rule?

Your life a weapon or a tool?



Well I am just a carpenter

Trying to build a life

Working with the tools You gave to me

Working from the plan You made for me

You gotta measure up, you gotta nail it down

You gotta make it last, you gotta build it strong

You gotta understand the master plan

See it finished before you begin

You gotta build your temple strong 

So you know what to keep out and who to let in

When the final inspection comes down

You're gonna understand it's divinely true

Nobody's living in there but you

You fill yourself each and everyday

Decide what's come to visit and what's gonna stay

Decide what to keep and what to give away

In the way you behave and the things you say

Well you can rationalize, capitalize, justify, or compromise

Are you the master of your convictions? 

Or just the slave to your own addictions? 

So when you hear the voices, and make the choices 

Respond in kind and find there's no one else to blame



Cuz' your demon and your god just happen to be 

One and the same, yea
