Het zien van foto's van het eiland Sark inspireerde Enya tot het maken van het album 'Dark Sky Island'. Het eiland Sark is een van de Kanaaleilanden, Je vindt het voor de kust van Frankrijk ter hoogte van Normandie. Het eiland is slechts 5,5 vierkante kilometer groot en er wonen nog geen 1000 mensen. Het heeft een eigen bestuur dat uit 28 personen bestaat. Aan het hoofd staat de Seigneur, zoals die genoemd wordt.
