De titel van deze song luidt ook wel eens 'Get you a Copper Kettle'.

In 1791 vaardigde de Amerikaanse regering een wet uit die alcohol in Amerika verbood. Deze, uiterst onpopulaire wet, maakte dat mensen hun eigen alcohol gingen stoken. Voorzichtigheid was daarbij wel geboden. "Don't use no green or rotten wood
They'll get you by the smoke."
Hierover gaat het lied.
De wet bleek niet houdbaar en werd in 1803 weer afgeschaft.
