Elysium of de Elysium fields is een begrip afkomstig uit de oude Griekse wereld. Daarmee wordt bedoeld de plaats waar men na overlijden heen gaat. Die plaats bevindt zich aan de west rand van de wereld bij de rivier de Okeanos. Dat is een enorme rivier die de hele wereld omspant. De rivier is verpersoonlijkt in een god. Als je ooit in Rome komt en je bezoekt de beroemde Trevi fontein, dan zie je zijn beeld in de fontein staan.
