Faintly the echoes of the prayers I have prayed

 Lap upon the shores of my memory

 And as I walk there on the sand I pretend I walk with Him

 But Hes standing by himself in the shadows

 When in your prayers you just pretend

 That the God to whom youre praying

 Is hearing every word youre saying

 Though the sounds that youre replaying

 Are just the prayers of yesterday

 Hiding from the words that He wishes I would pray

 Fearing the pain that they will cause me

 Trusting in my pretension that everythings o.k.

 To keep the moment of confession and submission held at bay
