Vermillion Lies bestond uit 2 personen: de zusjes Kim en Zoe Boekbinder. In 2009 besloten de dames ieder afzonderlijk een solo carriere te beginnen.

Op hun website schreven ze het volgende: "Our exciting news today is that Vermillion Lies is giving way to two solo careers! We will still be playing some shows together as Vermillion Lies, but most of our energies and attentions will be going to our solo music at this time."

Vermillion Lies verbond circus elementen met folk in hun muziek.
