for King & Country

For King & Country is een Australisch/Amerikaans duo bestaande uit de 2 broers Joel en Luke Smallbone. De broers zijn in Sydney geboren maar wonen al sinds 1991 in Nashville Tennessee in de VS. Aanvankelijk noemden ze zich Joel & Luke, vervolgens noemden ze zich Austoville, maar sinds 2009 for King & Country.

Over de laatste naamswijziging zegt Luke: "We wanted a band name that carried more meaning. We were in the studio recording our debut record that Joel had the idea of All The King's Men, like the Humpty Dumpty nursery rhyme. Our producer overheard our conversation and swung around in his chair and said, 'What about For King & Country?' And we all felt a sense of providence in that moment. "For King and Country" was the battle cry of English soldiers willing to lay down their lives for their king and their country. And now it has become our mission, to lay down our lives for our King and our country."

In 2008 brachten ze hun eerste EP uit. Dat was nog onder de naam Joel & Luke. Dat album heet A Tale of Two Towns. Alle volgende albums is onder de naam for King & Country.
