Wild Bill was a wild one
He loved a pretty young Philly named Josephine
But one night in a snow storm Bill didn't come home
And that was the last time he would be seen

He use to sing her sweet love songs of Christmas
They walked hand in hand through the fields
And one time he picked her a dozen camellias
Said "I love you forever, my sweet Josephine"

She cried more tears than stars up in the sky
She waited there night after night
Praying someday she might see him again

Now year after year and tear after tear
She just couldn't give up on Bill
But her father was certain that he'd never come back
Demanded she'd marry some boy, named Badgewell

Well, at church it was fatal with all sorts of family
They were so happy for her
But she cried tears of sorrow, she prayed that she could go 
Far, far away with her true love Bill
