HISTORICAL NOTES NOBODY CARES ABOUT: This song was originally released on the second Fancy Pants recording, the Getting Used to Other People's Remote Controls EP (2002). Most songs were taken over from this EP to the full length in completely (or nearly) unchanged form, but Highlights was re-recorded and changed somewhat in the transfer. It was originally called "Inusrance Highlights" (the "insurance" part dropped for reasons that aren't clear to me at all) and the EP version lacked Keith's background harmonies on chorus 2 and bridge 3. I think the new version is better, because re-recording the song from scratch allowed Graham to get the vocals stronger in some places where they weren't so easy to catch in the original recording. Graham plays (live at least) with only three strings on his guitar. However, I can't figure out how to do any of these songs well without the four strings traditionally used for good power chords, so this is the four-string version.
