Song review: Justin Bieber - YouTube Phenomenon and King of Streaming Media

The Canadian pop-R&B singer Justin Drew Bieber is undoubtedly the biggest pop star ever launched by YouTube. At only thirteen he was catapulted from anonymity to superstardom and at sixteen his personal brand is already leveraging social media. He is a symbol of success, the perfect example of the accomplished American dream.

Thanks to his mother, Pattie Mallette, who uploaded on the brave new world of YouTube Bieber's performance of Ne-Yo's "So Sick" for a local singing competition in Stratford where he placed second, his talent has been spotted and acknowledged. Continuing to upload videos of Bieber singing covers of various R&B songs, the boy's popularity on the site grew. Scooter Braun, now his manager, clicked on one of his videos by accident and was very impressed. He found him and arranged for him to meet with Usher in Atlanta, Georgia, where he was also signed to Raymond Braun Media Group (RBMG), a joint venture between Braun and Usher.

A year later, his debut single was released worldwide.
