They crashed down here just a month ago
I shield my eyes with my hands as the wind blows
The smell of death, of dying, permeates the air
I squeeze my eyes shut - God, what happened here?
I see the waves crash down against the shore
And they wash away houses and homes and so much more
In my mind I hear screaming by both adults and kids
I jerk as a tear escapes through my eyelids
I didn't have to be here to feel the pain they felt
A relative doesn't have to die for my heart to melt
I may have been separated by oceans when they hit
But we're all humans, all of our hearts are tightly knit
Together, I know we can still help the ones who survived
A lot of people have died, but many more are still left 
behind
There's a time to mourn and a time to plan and rebuild
Think about the ones who are alive, not the ones who've 
been killed
I know it hurts all of us that this tragedy has struck
But we're humans, we're powerful, we're not sitting ducks
Put your hand in mine, and we'll stand together day after 
day
Let's think about calm waters, and push the violent waves 
away
