Actually, upon examining this further and playing it a few times, I realized that during the verses it should be G - D/F# - Em - C

but the chorus is correct, G - D/F# - C - D

Where he has the Em* that can just b e a regular Em, followed by an Em+maj7 (021000) then go to the C. that is how it is on the album.
