dont I feel like a stoned ass, just pulled out my copy, a7#9 is right --- this means I've been playing it wrong all this time -DoH - but try it in this voicing
e--8
b--8
g--6
d--7
or
e--x
b--13
g--12
d--11
a--12
the first keeps you near the register of the solo and the second is the 'my first #9 chord' voicing we all learn when its hendrix time.
so excuse me, and hope this helps

The chord you have here is an a7#9. More importantly, the pitches that are correct are in the wrong register. The actual voicing is an a-7, a e g c. Hopefully this looks right when it gets posted:
e--8
b--8
g--9
d--7
a--x
e--x
I just play 2nd inversion triads, for the D Maj and the chromatic walk down to C Maj
