Online Romance - (the Girl With The) Lily Green Eyes lyrics

Your rating:

The girl with the lily green eyes, Tom sometimes
thought that she was brainless. Dry fingers in a mouth
open wide. Tom said, 'I know that can't be painless.'
She's off in her world and bits of her hair curl as
they dry in the breeze from her window. He sits on the
bed while she's lost in her head and thinks, 'What will
she do when she's old?'
Thomas drew a picture today and it was perfectly neat
and shameless. The girl said that the lines were okay,
'But tell me, what's the point you've addressed?'
Thomas stepped away from her eyes. 'It's just a tree
limb and a bird's nest.' Neither of them were now
amazed and the boy now thought his work a mess at best.
She looks to the ground, now distracted by sound yet
aloof like the cat by the window. The silence replete
with the sting of the heat, he thinks, 'What will she
do when she's cold?'
Again she brought her hand to her teeth, and it did
break Tom from his numbness. He moved then with the
speed of a thief to touch the girl upon her swelled
wrist. The music of electronic games, it broke the
silence of their fortress. Her brother would receive
all the blame. (He is the one who played the NES and
plays the pest.)
Though things had looked bleak, Tom now strokes her
white cheek. He says, 'Too bad you're no good at
Nintendo.'
She grins with eyes shut and still smiling says, 'What
would you do if I had the controls?'
Tom turned to his easel and then he sang, 'Hey little
minah bird, I'm crooning now. I'm falling at your feet
for lack of brighter goals. If i forget the words I'll
blow it now. It's just a message on repeat. Oh woah
woah woah.'
The girl with the lily green eyes, near in her closet
kept her prom dress. The night that she had worn that
disguise she was the fairest in all of the west. Tom's
painting never would be revised, its deeper purpose
neither redressed. And oh, she never would realize that
not all artwork must be glamorous.
But she doesn't mind and they'll never rewind to that
moment when words did crescendo. He's lost in her eyes
and his painting that dries asks her, 'What will he do
when he's gold?'
