For a 8 string tune the 8th string to the thinnest bass string like this
Gb Bb Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb   if you want to sound good

Meshuggah uses Ibanez combo strings : 16-70

Note this tab is on a 6 string meshuggah plays 8 string!!!  Just have to use what you have
if a 7 thats good just what you got.
