About this Album:
Chase This Light is Jimmy Eat World’s sixth studio album, and was released on October 16, 2007. The album was produced by Butch Vig, whose previous works include Nirvana, The Smashing Pumpkins, Sonic Youth, and Against Me!.
On September 7, 2007, un-mastered demos of the album were leaked onto the Internet, while the full album was leaked on September 29, 2007.
The album debuted at number five on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, selling about 62,000 copies in its first week.
However, the album didnt hold, it fell to #38 on its second week with 18,000 copies.
Chase This Light isn’t as deliriously hooky as Bleed American (aka self-titled CD,) or as adventurous as Futures. But they do not abandon their basic power pop sound, and this is a CD that is not too slow to be enjoyed on a road trip or too fast to relax too. The synthesized sound has easygoing charms of its own, and I think Chase This Light has a place in their catalog as a “safe” but well made CD.
