About this Album:
Out of Control is the fifth studio album by British female pop group Girls Aloud.
It was released by Fascination on 3 November 2008 and debuted at #1 on the UK Albums Chart.
Girls Aloud return for a fifth full-length outing in the shape of ‘Out Of Control’, an album with myriad influences and pop styles incorporated.
The girls appear to be dabbling with retro influences including drum ‘n’ bass, 80s and 90s dance music and balladry. As with previous releases, the Xenomania songwriting team are at work behind the scenes.
Throughout ‘Out Of Control’ we see the Girls cherry picking elements of their sound throughout their career and refining them, changing them into something that is at the same time the Girls Aloud we all know and love yet also something new, more mature, more emotional, exciting and as always with Girls Aloud, pop music at its absolute best
The first single to be taken from the album is “The Promise“, which was released on 20 October 2008 and topped the charts, gaining their fourth number one. The song is notable for its 1960s influence, with “production that tips its cap towards vintage Spector.”
The music video took place at a ’50s-and-’60s-inspired drive-in movie theatre, where a retro-styled Girls Aloud watched themselves channel The Supremes on screen.
Girls Aloud continue to take Pop music to places it’s never been before. Five albums into their career they are trailblazers who have consistently raised the bar and changed what it means to be a girlband in the 21st century.
