From: "James Houston" Subject: d/doves/satellites.crd Date: Tue, 30 Jul 2002 15:42:44 -0400 These are the chords from the song "Satellites" written and performed by = (the) Doves on their 2002 Capitol Records release "The Last Broadcast." = The song is pretty simple as far as chords go. It's carried mostly by = its sublime arrangement. =20 A few notes: -You should tune down a half step, as it makes the G - G/F# - Em change = during the chorus much easier. The chords as I've written them are = relative to a guitar tuned to Eb, i.e. on the record they're all a half = step higher in pitch. =20 -The C major chords sound a little better with a low G in the bass = (332010), especially during the intro and chorus -In the final short verse, play G6 in the seventh position (779787). = Bar the seventh fret with your first finger, fret the B string at the = 8th fret with your second finger, and fret the D string at the 9th fret = with your third finger. I suppose you could also see this as an Em7 = with B in the bass, but calling it G6 fits the rest of the song better. = -Also in the third verse, you may want to play the Em in the seventh = position. I'm pretty sure Jez Williams's arpeggiated figure towards the = end revolves around the 7th position Em. =20 Intro:=20 C C C G Mmmmmm Mmmmmmm (2x) Verse:=20 C G I want . . . know this C G My anger's . . . done C G Sweet lord . . . . darkness C D Sweet lord . . . . pain Chorus: G G/F# Em C Satellites ahead . . . hold on, etc. Break: C Gmaj7 Cmaj7 Gmaj7 Cmaj7 Gmaj7 Cmaj7 D Third verse: C G I want. . . notice C Em My anger's . . . done C G6 And all . . . madness -James Houston (jhouston@sas.upenn.edu) I didn't steal this from anywhere :)
