Soloing For Beginners - Spreading Out

Soloing For Beginners - Spreading OutA very important part of soloing, or guitar altogether is using all your fingers and spreading them out. If your fingers are flying all over the fretboard, or your only using 2 or 3 of them, you are only making it harder on yourself. Here is a little practice scale I made
Code: Select all
 1 2 3 4   1 2 3 4

You should use all your fingers!!! You should notice how your hand hardly moves. That is a GOOD thing. Watch Eric Clapton, or Kirk Hammet, two of the finest, solo. Their hands hardly move! Quoting Hammet- 'It would be very difficult to play my songs without using your pinky!' Always use your pinky. Practice little bends and slides with it. It is very difficult to play with just 3 fingers, especially in rock or metal. Keep an eye out for more Soloing for Beginners or other beginner lessons. The scale in the lesson is the chromatic scale.
