Tommy Emmanuel
Tommy Emmanuel - Run A Good Race guitar tab

If you've seen Tommy do this song live you'll appreciate this song so much more. It sounds great on the CD but when it's just Tommy and his Maton he really fills out the sound and turns it into an acoustic song in it's own right. Therefore I have made out the TAB in acoustic format. It's along the same lines as the CD except for the howling Tele in the bridge. See what you think. The first thing to note about this song is the tuning. The guitar is actually tuned to C. You'll need to tune your guitar to the following notes: E|----- C|----- G|----- C|----- G|----- C|----- There's alot of synchopation in this song and because of the speed it's probably a good idea to master it slow before trying to tackle it fast. Having said that it's a lot easier playing it fast than it is slow, but you'll figure that out! Here it goes........ KEY: ! = 10th Fret # = 12th Fret Harmonic / = Slide to next chord In the key of C Intro |131-1-----------|--------7-------|--------| |---3-30-30--0---|--------7-------|--------| |-------0--30-30-|--------7-------|--------| |---------------3|--0--0--7-------|--------| |----------------|35-35-357-------|--------| |----------------|--------7-------|--------| Play this little bass riff while strumming open C chord. Then repeat all over again. The rest of the song is just variations on this pattern. The bottom three strings tabbed for the bridge are just a guide to help you get used to playing a rhythm fill with the main tune. The entire bridge is played by barring the whole fret and adding fourth and fifth fingers for the tune. You can figure out the ending. If you get yourself a copy of Tommy's Guitar Talk Video, there's a very good version of this song on there. This is where I got the idea for tabbing the acoustic version.
