The Muppets - Man or Muppet Lyrics Gary: I reflect on my reflection And I ask myself the question Whats the right direction to go I don't know Am I a man or am I a muppet If I'm a muppet then I'm a very manly muppet Am I a muppet or am I a man If I'm a man that makes me a muppet of a man Walter: I look into these eyes And I don't recognize The one I see inside Its time for me to decide Am I a man or am I a muppet If I'm a muppet then I'm a very manly muppet Am I a muppet or am I a man If I'm a man that makes me a muppet of a man Here I go again I think I made up my mind Now I understand who I am I'm a man I'm a muppet I'm a muppet of a man I'm a very manly muppet This is what I am Song Information After receiving the Oscar nomination, McKenzie admitted that he never expected it to be nominated and described his experience in writing the lyrics, stating that he "really wanted it to be hilarious and beautiful" and that the song itself is "sincere but ridiculous". "The night we recorded 'Man or Muppet,' we had a few drinks and Jason Segel was predicting we'd get together at the Oscars, but he was joking," McKenzie recalled. "[Maybe] that guy can see the future."
