The Electric Prunes
The Electric Prunes - Too Much To Dream guitar chord
Your rating:
Annette Tucker and Nancy Mantz wrote a bunch of punkadelic classics (unusual for women in that era) including this #11 hit for the Electric Prunes. Correction to earlier notes: While some sources (including the original _Nuggets_ liners) identify the band as being from Seattle, a source close to the band has since informed me that they (along with the Strawberry Alarm Clock) attended Taft H.S. in the San Fernando Valley near Los Angeles. An interview with singer Jim Lowe is scheduled for _Here 'Tis_ #8; hopefully that will clear up this matter once and for all. -- AWR "I Had Too Much To Dream (Last Night)" (Annette Tucker - Nancy Mantz) Intro: [fuzz guitar playing D and Eb simultaneously, panned between channels] --- --- --- -0- -6- --- bass [4X; rhythm guitar plays Dm on 1 beat first and third time] v v v v ----------------- ---7---7---7---7- -5---5---5---5--- ----------------- Verse 1: Dm C Last night your shadow fell upon my lonely room Dm C I touched your golden hair and tasted your perfume Gm Dm Your eyes were filled with love the way they used to be Gm Dm G [N.C.] Your gentle hand reached out to comfort me Dm Then came the dawn C#m And you were gone G F Eb [N.C.] You were gone, gone, gone Chorus: Dm G I had too much to dream last night Dm G Too much to dream Dm G I'm not ready to face the light Dm A I had too much to dream Dm C Bb C Last night Dm C Bb C Last night Verse 2: The room was empty as I staggered from my bed I could not bear the image racing through my head You were so real that I could feel your eagerness And when you raised your lips for me to kiss Came the dawn And you were gone You were gone, gone, gone [repeat chorus 2X] Coda: (C) D C Bb C Oh, too much to dream Oh, too much to dream Too much to dream last night Oh, too much to dream [repeat to fade] [Note: the coda is in D major; listen to the rhythm guitar (heavily-tremoloed part in right channel) to hear this] -- another ace 60's tab from Andrew Rogers
