Eleanor Rigby
Written by Lennon and McCartney
Performed by the Beatles on the album "Revolver"
Arr. by Sam Anderson
Submitted by Jared Buchanan

This version was arranged for one guitar rather than two like the one
arr. by Ronald Sosa submitted by Gianpiero Ciammaricone
(gianpiero@mindless.com) which, if I might add, is a great arrangement
(if you're playing with a friend). It is fairly simple, if you're
familiar with finger picking. It is written in G major and 4/4 time.
It is in AA-BB-CC pattern. The intro is the C section. I pride myself
on the accuracy of the spacing.

Eleanor Rigby
Key: G major
Time Signature: 4/4

intro (C section)

e-I-0========2-3-3/4-3-2-0==I---------------------------------I
B-I-1========---------------I---0---0---0---------------------I
G-I-0========---------------I-----2---0-------0---0-----0---2-I
D-I-------------------------I-------------2/4---2---2/4-------I
A-I-3========---------------I---------------------------------I
E-I-------------------------I-0---------------------------0---I

Play this twice then go to section A

Section A

e-I-----------------I-----------------I---------------I---------------I
B-I-----0-----------I-----0-3---2-0-2-I---0---0-------I---------------I
G-I-0-2---0-------0-I---2-------------I-----2-----2-0-I-2-------------I
D-I-----------2-----I-----------------I---------------I---------------I
A-I-----------------I-----------------I---------------I-3---3---3---3-I
E-I-0---0---0---0---I-O---0---0---0---I-0---0---0---0-I---------------I

e-I---------------I
B-I-----0-1---0---I
G-I-0-2-----------I
D-I---------------I
A-I-3---3---3---3-I
E-I---------------I

Play this twice then proceed to section B

e-I-----------------I---------------I-3-0-------------I---------------I
B-I-----------------I---------------I-------3---1---0-I---------------I
G-I-2---0-2---0-----I---------------I-----------------I---------------I
D-I---------------0-I---2-----------I-----------------I---------------I
A-I-----------------I---------------I-3---3---3---3---I---------------I
E-I-0---0---0---0---I-0---0---0---0-I-----------------I-0---0---0---0-I

Play this twice and go back to section A. Play A twice then play B
twice. Next play C (the intro) twice. Play A twice, B twice, and
finally play section C twice.

I have posted an optional ending arr. by Sam Anderson.

After play section C at the end for the second time, play it once again
and finally play this:

e-I---------0=====12====================I
B-I-0===3===------12====================I
G-I---------------12====================I
D-I---------------12====================I
A-I---------------12====================I
E-I---------------12====================I

When you play part C the third time, you will begin to slow down when
you play the open E (low E, sixth string). On the last part where you
play the 12th fret of every string simultaneously, you will be playing
"harmonics." For this you will bar all of the strings DIRECTLY OVER
the twelfth fret (press down just lay your finger on the strings),
strum, and quickly pull your hand away from the guitar. You will know
that you have done it when the sound is higher pitch than just
strumming the open strings. It will sound like it normally would if
you barred the twelfth fret accept that it will have a ringing effect
to it. It gives a great effect!

NOTE: Throughout all of section A and most of section B, you will be
playing the root E or C on every count (as quarter notes).

Every other space is an eighth note. Every three spaces are quarter
notes and so on. The last measure (the opt. ending) is by no means
exact. You should go by feel and play it however you want.
