Would you be the sun that lets me grow into a tree?
If I were a boat
Would you be the wind to catch my sail to send me home?
If I were a song
Would you be the voice that sings me out into the world, slow and strong?

If I were a book
Would you be the dog-eared pages saved for a second look?
If I were a pen
Would you be the hand that picks me up to write again?
And if I were a song
Would you be the voice that sings me out to the world?
Or else I’d be useless like a nest without a bird.
