Last Friday night, me and the boys
Got a gig to play downtown
A last minute call for a hotel ball
It wasn't our usual crowd
There was sculptured ice, suits and ties
Champagne in every glass
But we showed 'em how these cowboy boots
Could kick a little class

We gave 'em 100 proof Haggard
A double shot of ole George Jones
We introduced 'em to Bocephus
Sang all of his daddy's songs
We had 'em drinkin' Lone Star
Instead of sippin' on champagne
They came in thinkin' Mozart
But when they left we had 'em thinkin' Strait

Well they rolled back that red carpet
Threw some sawdust on the floor
Those chandeliers were shakin'
Like they never shook before
And those ladies turned to cowgirls
And those gentlemen went hog wild
And they left behind fifth avenue
By a good ole country mile
